In addition to helping victims, the VCARS program also has potential benefits to other community stakeholders:

Police and Emergency Service Personnel

  • Allows officers the ability to rapidly respond to other pending crises
  • Decreases repeat calls
  • Provides emergency service providers with accurate and comprehensive information about available community resources and services
  • Fosters cooperation with, and enhances relationships with emergency services
  • Provides satisfaction that the victims' needs are being met
  • Provides feedback to the officer on the outcome of the assistance provided to the victim

Community

  • Improves coordination between community resources/services and emergency personnel
  • Provides an opportunity for community members to become positively involved in the criminal justice system
  • Helps to mobilize crime prevention efforts with the community
  • Assures the community-at-large that victim's needs are being addressed
